Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a condition affecting both children as well as adults. There are three main types diagnosed: inattentive type, hyperactivity/impulsivity type or combined type. The symptoms first become observable in childhood when the child faces problems in the schools. Though, the diagnosis is also made in adults. Some of the common symptoms observed include:

  • Easily distracted
  • Inability to maintain focus on the task at hand
  • Frequently losing things
  • Not able to pay attention to what is being said
  • Unable to complete a task
  • Inability to manage time
  • Inability to sit still  for long
  • Continuous fidgeting
  • Excessive talking
  • Inability to wait for the turn

Cognitive skills training can help in managing the condition and curbing the symptoms.
